Osteoarthritis sometimes makes exercise painful. The GLA:D education and training program helps reduce pain and prevent symptoms from getting worse. You can take the program at Fysiotherapie de Jong.
What is osteoarthritis?
Osteoarthritis is an ailment that often gets worse with age. Healthy cartilage provides shock absorption and keeps a joint moving smoothly. With osteoarthritis, the cartilage in the joint slowly wears away, making movement less smooth and can become painful. Sometimes the joint may even swell and feel warm. This is most common in the knee or hip.
Why GLA:D?
GLA:D® is an information and training program for patients with hip and knee osteoarthritis, based on the latest scientific insights and developed in Denmark (GLA:D stands for Good Life with Osteoarthritis in Denmark) . The program is already being used in more than ten countries and was recently implemented in the Eindhoven region by the Maxima Medical Center.
The program helps reduce pain (reducing the use of painkillers), improve function and prevent symptoms from worsening. Our physical therapists underwent special training for this purpose. With your own commitment and guidance from our specialized physiotherapist, you can delay or even prevent a knee or hip replacement.
