Pelvic Pain
The pelvis is the central part of the body and works closely with hips and low back. Complaints can range from pain, incontinence or, for example, limitation in performing daily tasks.
Pelvic pain in pregnancy
Cause
During pregnancy and childbirth, changes occur in the body that can cause pain and discomfort in the pelvic region. Complaints can arise from the softening of the ligaments around the pelvis during pregnancy and can be very limiting in daily life.
Features
Examples of complaints include pain in the pubic bone, in the SI joint or near the sacrum. Pelvic pain can also cause pain in the low back and legs (especially the upper legs). You may have difficulty standing, walking and sitting for long periods at a time.
Pelvic pain other causes
Cause
Pelvic pain can also be due to other factors. These include a fall, a misstep or a wrong move.
Features
The complaints are located in the pelvic region and can range from pain with sitting, standing up, walking, etc. Furthermore, incontinence also falls under pelvic complaints.
Research and treatment
The physical therapist will assess your symptoms through an interview and focused examination. Then the diagnosis will be discussed with you and a personalized treatment plan will be drawn up.
Treatment often consists of exercises to strengthen the muscles around the pelvis, resolve restriction in adjacent joints and gradual buildup of activities such as work and sports.
Cost
Physical therapy is covered by your supplementary insurance. Don't have supplementary insurance? Then we apply the following rates.
