What distinguishes sports physical therapists from regular physical therapists?

Our physios love sports themselves and like to push their limits. A physio who does sports can better empathize with your situation. Our physios play many different sports so we have a physio who knows the sport personally.

Our sports physiotherapists have several specialties in addition to sports physiotherapy: manual therapy, dry needling therapy, ultrasound and EPTE are also used to reduce symptoms.

What distinguishes sports physical therapists from regular physical therapists?

Dry needling therapy is an effective therapy aimed at reducing muscle tension in localized cramps. The name dry needling therapy actually says it all. A dry needle is inserted as dry needle therapy. The needles are similar to needles used in acupuncture, but the effect is quite different. The dry needles (dry needle therapy) are pricked into the local muscle spasm leading to a reduction in tension throughout the muscle. Through this dry needling therapy, muscle function improves quickly and a movement can often be fully performed again very quickly. Through the dry needles therapy a muscle becomes slightly longer again because the "muscle knot" is removed. The physio helps you to get back to sports quickly and painlessly.

Muscle strengthening exercises

Once muscle tone is normalized with dry needles therapy, the physio can make sports possible again. Muscle strengthening exercises, or strength training, can be started. This, in addition to making the muscle more relaxed through the dry needling therapy, makes it strong again to handle the load of your sport again. This is why rehabilitation at a physio is similar to sports. Rehabilitation is actually a type of physio sports to get you ready to return to the level of your own sport.
